> Voltage regulated fan controller, how to?
Posted by mrpringle - 02-25-06 07:02 - 0 comments
Hi,
I was thinking about designing a fan controller. Using some potentiometers is probably the easiest design, but they aint cheap for ones which can handle 15-25W, and it's hard finding the right ones for the job. I was reading some guides about making fan controllers and I cam across the idea of using a voltage regulator.

There is one thing which is confusing me. I don't have much of an understanding of the concept of voltage regulators, but it seems that you have resistors connected to the regulator which determines the output voltage. In order to have a variable output voltage you would need to connect a potentiometer to the voltage regulator, and the current for the fan would obviously need to flow through the POT, so you would still need a high capacity / expensive POT? Am I missing something.

Can someone please briefly explain how you can use voltage regulators and potentiometers to vary the output between 0 and 12V?

if you had any links to diagrams on the internet that may be useful also,

Thanks

> Coolermaster Praetorian 730 or 732 not 731
Posted by incubate - 02-7-06 14:38 - 0 comments
Hi guys/girls,

Can anyone help me find a place to get this case. It's damn irritating because you can get all the latest Thermaltake cases but you cannot get hold of any Coolermaster cases. Please I really don't want to import this case myself because it'll cost me more but I might have to resort to it because this country just sucks when it comes to this kind of stuff.

regards,
Benjamin

> N64 controller to USB?
Posted by darknight65 - 01-14-06 02:24 - 0 comments
I was wondering if anyone would know about how to get a N64 controller adapted for a USB port? I am actually going to be using for my Xbox and I know there are adpaters for the N64 to USB but I want solder a Xbox controller wire directly to the board.

How much do your systems weigh? Mine clocks in at just under 30kgs (Antec Tx1050b) and I'm on a mission to make it lighter, my first objective is to replace the non-opening side of the box with a sheet of aluminium.

Any other suggestions? Only running 1 hdd & 1 DVD writer

> Measuring CPU Voltage Manually
Posted by Ascii - 09-15-05 03:55 - 0 comments
I presume i use a multimeter, luckily i have one of those clap.gif

Does anyone know where i connect the multimeter to on the mobo? And is setting the multimeter to 2000mV ok?

I'm asking this coz unforunaltey the bios doesn't list voltages, MMB5 reads two different voltages (on different settings), Speedfan reads a different voltage, and 2 of these 3 above readings are not 1.525v (the voltage set in the bios).

Any ideas?
